The Prüm family dynasty is one of the oldest and most storied of any winemaking family in the world, with the first records of their production and vineyard holdings dating to the year 1156.

Today, S.A. Prüm is run by Saskia Andrea Prüm. An enology graduate of Geisenheim and Raimund’s oldest daughter, Saskia has extensive, global winemaking experience and is the first woman in the family’s 800-plus-year history to own and lead the winery. Raimund remains the global consultant and ambassador for S.A.Prüm managing the export business internationally along with his wife Pirjo while also managing the Raimund Prüm line of wines.

This wine is produced from the young vines of the famous Sonnenuhr vineyard, which are declassified from Grand Cru (Grosse Lage) to Village wine (Ortswein). Hand harvested, 100% destemmed, the grapes are pressed and left on skins for 6-12 hours with wild yeast cold fermentation in 1000 liter oak barrels. The wine rests on the lees for 7 months in fuder, finishing with Vegan fining. Planted on ancient gray Devonian slate, it displays the distinctive mineral character of this vineyard site along with ripe apple, apricot, golden peach, pineapple and floral notes with a full and round body and a long dry finish.
