Roagna Albesani, Barbaresco DOCG, Italy 2018

Historical geographical mention in the municipality of Neive, with soil characterised by calcareous clay. Part of the plot is made up of old vines, planted in the 1950s, and part of more recent vines, dating back to the 1980s-90s.
Situated 240 metres above sea level, the plot lies on the highest part of the hill, bordering with the town of Santo Stefano. The soil, rich in active limestone, ensures wines with structure. In this plot we cultivate old Nebbiolo vines that are about 50 years old. The vines are exclusively of massal origin.
"The 2018 Barbaresco Albesani is another gorgeous wine from Roagna. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, tobacco, orange peel, spice and crushed rocks open nicely with some coaxing. Deep and powerful, yet also wonderfully understated, the Albesani has a ton to offer. It is also one of the few wines in this vintage here that most certainly needs time." Vinous 94
