Chateau Petit Village 'Le Jardin de Petit-Village - Le Petit', Pomerol, France 2021

Château Petit-Village is located on the high part of the magnificent Pomerol plateau at an altitude of between 35 and 38 metres, on gravel soils in the heart of the appellation. An ideal geographical situation to produce very great wines faithful to this exceptional terroir. The past few years have seen major renovations and changes at Château Petit-Village. Significant replanting of the vineyard had occurred, with the long term aim of maximising quality. These changes have begun to bear fruit. 

" One of the darker hued efforts in the vintage, the 2021 Château Petit-Village comes from 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and was raised in 50% new oak. While it doesn't match previous vintages, it's an undeniable success in the vintage, offering beautiful darker cherry and cassis-driven fruit as well as spicy wood, smoke tobacco, and damp earth-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and balanced, with good concentration and ripe tannins, as well as beautifully integrated oak, it's well worth drinking and following over the coming decade or more. Bravo!"
